While the Greek theatre is getting underway 70th edition of the Taormina Film Festival, a few meters (and a secret passage) further on on the only terrace that holds together the sea and Etna, the great stories of cinema are discussed. The Grand Hotel Timeo of the Belmond group, which has always had a special relationship with the event, for the first time in collaboration with Vanity Fair Italy host meeting moments to promote dialogue between actresses, actors and artists.
The Timeo Summer Lounge was inaugurated by Emanuela Fanelli, Pilar Fogliati And James Georgein conversation with Simone Marchetti, Vanity Fair European editorial Director and Vanity Fair Italia Editor in Chief. Before them Max PuglisiGeneral Manager of the Grand Hotel Timeo, celebrated “the value of excellence and the talent that make places like this possible” and shared anecdotes and memories of 150 years of history. From a watercolor of Taormina that ended up in Paris and no one could believe that such a place existed to the first owner Francesco il Pazzo, from the English noblewoman who lived in one of the first five rooms of the Timeo and contributed to making Taormina so green to the two hundred collaborators who work backstage every day, and also Audrey Hepburn, Richard Burton and Truman Capote as loyal guests.
On the terrace stage the first to tell her story was Emanuela Fanelli, who received the Nino Manfredi award the previous evening. Between the myth of life Franca Valeri and her true friend Paola Cortellesi, between the irony “that dampens situations and also makes something that is scary less frightening” and the bodies of women that “should never be put under scrutiny”, she bewitched us all with her authenticity.
