With fast track procedures the subsidies for filming

The subsidy of the expenses made in our country for the production of movies, series and digital games, as well as digital games within the cash rebate program, enters a fast track logic.

The Ministry of Digital Government with an amendment submitted to the bill of the Ministry of Interior for the National Strategic Plan to Fight Corruption enabled the companies that make investments in our country to be audited by certified auditors or by an auditing company for the implementation of their investments. .

The goal, according to what the Deputy Minister of Digital Government, Thodoris Livanios, stated in Parliament, is to accelerate and streamline the process of completing an investment plan, with the aim of making the program that has already brought significant productions in our country even more attractive.

The new regulation provides for the sampling procedure of 30% of the investment audiovisual projects each year, by regular or extraordinary control bodies of EKOME. In case an illegal project certification is found, a procedure for retrieving the amounts paid is provided.

Reimbursement of expenses

According to EKOME data, in almost three years, from April 2019 to February 2022, a total of 204 projects have been subject to the cash rebate investment incentive. The investment in our country is estimated at approximately 316 million euros.

The 112 projects are domestic productions and 92 projects are international productions, ie cross-border co-productions between Greek and production companies from Europe, the USA, Asia, Canada and Australia. From the shootings that take place in more than 140 locations across the country, about 49,201 jobs have been created.

It is also worth noting that in addition to fiction films, TV series and documentaries, two applications for digital games and the feature-length animated film “The Adventure of Space” have been invested.
