A few days ago, high-quality renders of Huawei P50 and P50 Pro smartphones were already published on the Web, but without specifics regarding the filling of the camera unit. Now sketches have appeared on the web that give a better idea of how the main camera of this model is arranged.

And it is arranged as follows: the large main block is divided into two “round floors”, each with two modules opposite each other. Judging by the dimensions of the modules’ lenses, the main one is located in the upper floor on the left. It will have either an inch sensor or a close-sized sensor – the Sony IMX800 1 / 1.18-inch optical format. Samsung has a module of the same format – this is the GN2 matrix. These are currently the largest sensors on the market for mobile devices. It is also interesting that the sketches lack a rectangular “window” – a sign of a periscope module with a smooth optical zoom. And while this point about the P50 is not clear in any way: hopefully, in the coming weeks, more details will appear on the account of the zoom capabilities of the smartphone.

The front panel has changed in comparison with the P40: Huawei has moved away from a dual “camera-pill” in the corner in favor of a single module embedded in the middle of the display. A similar solution is seen in almost all flagships of 2021.
There are no specifics regarding the release date of the Huawei P50 and P50 Pro yet. At first, rumors spoke of an official announcement at the very end of March, but we can already say that this will not happen. On the contrary, according to the latest data, the debut of the Huawei P50 has been postponed to May. That is why smartphones of the line will not be the first Huawei models with HarmonyOS – the Mate X2, Mate 40 and P40 will receive it in April. However, there is no doubt that the Huawei P50 will become the new camera benchmark in the segment of flagship smartphones: the first photos from the P50 camera inspire cautious optimism.
