Five cameras from a monitoring station in Monte Castelo, a municipality located in the north of Santa Catarina, recorded a meteor shower.
In all, more than 200 records of the luminous phenomenon were recorded between 6:30 pm on Saturday (10) and 6:30 am on Sunday (11).
According to astronomer Jocimar Justino, a member of the Brazilian Meteor Observation Network (Bramon), the meteors captured by the cameras are of the most common type.
“They were not classified as bolides or fireballs (the famous fireballs) which are types of meteors with more intense brightness that end up causing a great flash in the sky”, explained Justino to CNN .
Still according to the astronomer, some are sporadic meteors that do not belong to any meteor shower already cataloged so far, while others are part of lesser known showers.
