The president of Ukraine has been in New York, USA for a few hours now, Volodymyr Zelenskywho traveled with the First Lady, Olena Zelenska, ahead of his scheduled speech in UN General Assemblybut also of their participation in various activities as they try to ensure the provision of further aid for their country to war with Russia.
In the meantime, Volodymyr Zelensky visited wounded Ukrainian soldiers who are being treated in New York and more specifically in a Staten Island hospital.
In his first visit to United Nations headquarters in New York since the start of the Russian invasion in February 2022, Zelensky will today address heads of state and government attending the 78th session of the Organization’s General Assembly.
Immediately after his arrival in New York, Zelensky went to Staten Island University Hospital, where Ukrainian soldiers who were maimed in the war are treated. In fact, he presented them with bravery medals.
“Straight from the airport, I go to our fighters who are being treated and rehabilitated in the US. Priority is given to the support of our people and gratitude to those who help Ukraine and Ukrainians. Important and busy days are coming. The United Nations General Assembly, the session to review the Sustainable Development Goals, the UN Security Council. Important bilateral contacts are already planned”Zelensky wrote in a post on his accounts on various social media platforms.
After completing his visit to New York, the president of Ukraine will go to Washington where he will meet his US counterpart Joe Biden and members of the US Congress, and is expected to hold talks with officials of the US armed forces and businessmen.
