José Carlos Oliveira, current president of the INSS (National Institute of Social Security), should take over the Ministry of Labor and Social Security, when the current minister, Onyx Lorenzoni, leaves the portfolio to launch the pre-candidacy for the government of Rio Grande do Sul.
THE CNN found that the name of José Carlos is already taken for granted within the portfolio due to the good political traffic he has shown as president of the INSS, which is linked to the Ministry of Labor.
Minister Onyx, newly affiliated to the PL, should leave the Ministry of Labor and Social Security until the beginning of April. Onxy is a veterinarian, was born in Porto Alegre and is 68 years old.
He was elected state deputy in 1994 and held the position for two consecutive terms. As a federal deputy, he won five elections. He ran twice for mayor of Porto Alegre, without success, in 2004 and 2008, consecutively placing third and fifth in the voters’ preference.
