With terminal cancer, woman gets married hours before dying so her son doesn’t become an orphan

American couple Amy Drouillard and Kyle Adcock had to move up their wedding ceremony due to a special reason involving the bride’s son, Nolan, 12 years old.

She had been diagnosed for the second time with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer.

In an interview with “Fox News”, Kyle revealed that his beloved’s biggest concern was not leaving her son alone when she left.

“She has a great son, it was difficult not to fall in love with both of them”, said the groom referring to the boy.

“Amy wore her dress and she looked beautiful and full of smiles. It was a beautiful wedding,” she added.

Weakened, he explained the support she received from the medical team so that the celebration could take place.

“Dr. Crader [a médica] prepared a beautiful night for us. They assigned the best six nurses to take care of Amy and brought a bunch of candles into the room,” she recalled. However, a few hours later, she died.

Special reason

Amy’s anguish was because Nolan had already lost his father when he was a child – and as the couple had not yet made their union official, he would become an orphan.

“We had to get married to be able to adopt him, and, fortunately, we were able to do that,” he said.

“In this family, no one fights alone and that is true, we all fight for each other”, he added.

For Kyle, the boy is as full of life as his mother.

“Now I’m his guardian. I am still moving forward with the adoption procedure. And I keep telling him every day, ‘You know you’re going to do great things,'” he shared.

The family has organized a tribute to Amy, which should take place on October 6th, at Blossom Heath Park.

“If you are someone who wants to reach out, pour love into this family. We are here”, said the boy.

Friends have already created a crowdfunding page on GoFundMe to help with adoption expenses and everything Nolan may need in the future.

“What kept me going the most was seeing her smile and the happiness on her face on the worst last day or the worst best day of our lives,” he said.

“That’s what keeps me going – and also knowing that I have Nolan here to hold on – and he has me.”
