A more favorable regime for those with insurance debts and the rationalization of the limitation procedure was announced today by the Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis, from the floor of the Parliament.
According to what Mr. Mitsotakis said, the maximum number of installments for arrangements in the insurance funds is being considered to be harmonized with the corresponding number of installments of the AADE and, in this way, to facilitate a large portion of the insured to settle their debts.
Also, a legislative provision is immediately submitted to the Parliament, where a limit of 10 years is set, after which EFKA’s claims to businesses, self-employed and freelancers are time-barred.
In this way, as mentioned, the State is complying with the court decision of the Supreme Court which ruled as unconstitutional the 20-year statute of limitations established by the Katrougalou law.
In fact, according to information, a step further will be taken: on the one hand, the entire limitation process will be regulated, on the other hand, the decade is set to be reduced to five years, from 2027 onwards.
Thus, there will be harmonization with what applies in the tax administration. The goal is to include all of this in a single provision, which will be submitted immediately to the Parliament.
