The continuation of the war in Ukraine has already impacted the prices of a number of products on the international market, in particular those linked to the Ukrainian and russian.
This Tuesday (1st), the price of wheat rose 8.91%, reaching the highest value in 13 years, while the corn advanced 6.06%. According to the director of CNN Brasil BusinessFernando Nakagawa, there are already reports in the international press of animal feed companies that are buying alternatives to corn to compose their products.
In the case of Brazil, the arrival of the wheat price rise is indirect, since most of the commodity is imported from Argentina. However, the quotation followed is the international one, which makes the values more expensive.
Wheat rose 8.91%, the highest price in 13 years, and corn rose 6.06%, with reports in the international press of animal feed companies buying alternatives to corn.
Another sector affected is Petroleum and gas. Also on Tuesday, the Swiss press reported that the company behind the pipeline Nord Stream 2, an international consortium, would be insolvent. “In addition to the departure of the partners, there may be a problem with the company’s survival”, says Nakagawa.
The scenario made oil prices reach record values. With the news that countries will release their oil stocks equivalent to less than a day of consumption, the Brent type, a reference for Brazil, rose 7.78%, to US$ 105 a barrel. The WTI type, reference in U.Sadvanced 9.08%, around US$ 100.
“All of this together means one thing for the global economy: inflation. It is already a problem today, and it can be made worse by this situation,” says Nakagawa.
According to him, the price of gasoline is currently challenged by 13%, and that of diesel, by 12%. “If the adjustment percentages were applied to the national average of the ANP, gasoline would go from R$ 6.56 to R$ 7.41 a liter, and diesel to R$ 6.26”.
