This week, the regulation for the changes in the operation of the electricity market is submitted to the Parliament, which aims at the return of the prices to the level of last September.
The regulation will be incorporated as a provision or amendment to the bill for the simplification of the licensing of Renewable Energy Sources that was recently put to public consultation.
The core of the regulation of the price of electricity, as agreed with the European Commission, provides that the price will continue to be formed daily on the Energy Exchange, however the producers will not receive the market price, but an administratively determined compensation. In this way, there is an indirect suspension of the price adjustment clause that currently applies to floating tariffs.
The amount of compensation for electricity generators will be determined after the law is passed by ministerial decision and will take effect from July 1. Information states that the price for renewable sources will be set at the level of 85-90 euros per megawatt hour, while for thermal units the price will change depending on the fluctuation of the price of fuel and carbon dioxide emission rights, to levels that ensure covering costs and achieving a reasonable profit margin. At the same time, subsidies to consumers will continue.
It is estimated that the measures that will be implemented will absorb 70% – 80% of the increase in the price per kilowatt hour for households, businesses and farmers.
At the same time, the process for returning to the household bills 60% of the increase for the electricity bills (up to 600 euros) issued from December 2021 to May 2022 and concerning the main residence is in progress.
