Without documents and up to 50% subsidy for recycling devices

Without supporting documents from the interested parties will be submitted the applications for participation in the program of replacement of electrical appliances that will provide subsidies of 30 to 50% for the purchase of new ones. The applications will be submitted from next Tuesday, June 21st to July 5th, while today the Ministerial Decision was published in the Government Gazette with the Program Implementation Guide.

The program, as announced by the Minister of Environment and Energy, Costas Skrekas, subsidizes the replacement of air conditioners, refrigerators and freezers, ie the devices that have the highest electricity consumption.

The information system that supports it is designed so that all the required data is pumped automatically. All you need is the taxisnet codes, the power supply number and the mobile phone.

Once the application is approved, the consumer will receive electronically, on the mobile phone, a code corresponding to the subsidy to which he is entitled and will buy the device at the reduced price from the store of his choice (if he participates in the program). He will also be obliged to hand over the old device for recycling.

Each household included in the program will be able to replace up to three electrical appliances (up to 2 air conditioners, a refrigerator or a freezer) for the main or secondary residence, privately owned or leased. Inclusion criteria include income and number of family members with additional points for single parents and families with disabilities.

An important element of the process is to ensure the recycling, under the responsibility of the trader, of the old device which will be marked with a special QR code as well as to ensure the installation of a new device of high energy class.

According to estimates by the Ministry of Environment and Energy, the program will benefit 200,000 households and more than 380,000 devices will be recycled.

The average energy savings for each household is estimated at 1,000 KWh per year. This means that a household with medium consumption, up to 5,000 KWh per year, is expected to achieve up to 25% energy savings.
