Without meeting target, SP vaccinates 54% of children aged 5 to 11 years in three weeks

The state of São Paulo has not reached the goal of vaccinating all eligible children against Covid-19 in three weeks, as previously announced by Governor João Doria.

Doria’s goal was to apply the initial dose to all 4.3 million children ages 5 to 11 in the state within three weeks. 21 days after the start of the campaign, São Paulo vaccinated 2,186,797 children in the group, equivalent to 54.61% of the estimated public, according to information from the state vaccinometer.

By means of a note, the state government stated that it has made available to the municipalities 100% of the doses necessary for the immunization of this target audience.

Despite not having reached the initial objective, São Paulo is the state that has most vaccinated children aged 5 to 11 so far.

“The Secretary of State for Health emphasizes the importance of vaccination and reinforces the need for parents and guardians to take their children to more than 5,000 vaccination posts across the state to protect their children against Covid-19, a disease that has already killed more people. than 636 thousand people in Brazil”, reinforced the statement.

Although children evolve less into severe cases of Covid, doctors warn that this population is also at risk when they contract the disease. As well as acting as transmitting agents of the virus.
