Without unnecessary software and extensions: a cryptocurrency wallet was built into the Brave browser

Previously, the creators of Brave actively recommended users to use the MetaMask extension to interact with cryptocurrencies, and now the browser has got its own cryptocurrency wallet. The developers stated that this innovation should satisfy the needs of most users regarding the blockchain – you can buy, sell and monitor cryptocurrency quotes (data is supplied by the CoinGecko service) without leaving the application. It will also be possible to store NFTs and enjoy all the benefits of Web3 technology or any website with embedded blockchain elements.

The developers also stated that their built-in cryptocurrency wallet will use significantly less computer resources compared to third-party software or extensions, plus this solution is less prone to phishing and attempts to steal NFT tokens. On the other hand, the system is limited in a number of ways, which can be frustrating for users. For example, so far only Ethereum can be traded, while Dogecoin or Bitcoin cannot be bought or sold. However, this is a temporary measure – the authors of the browser said that they are already working on adding support for other popular cryptocurrencies.

In addition, so far, the Brave Wallet cryptocurrency wallet is implemented exclusively on the desktop version of the browser, while this function is not available on Android and iOS. And the developers are not yet ready to name even an approximate release date for the innovation on smartphones, plus Brave may have certain difficulties in assessing the update in the App Store. But in any case, this is great news for those who prefer secure browsers and are interested in cryptocurrency, blockchain and the decentralized internet – for them Brave has become an even more attractive solution.
