Carlos Wizard defended himself against the accusations of Alpargatas, which filed a judicial execution process against the businessman, alleging default in the payment of the remaining installment related to the acquisition of a shareholding in Alpargatas Asaic.
In a note sent to BroadcastWizard classified the statement released by Alpargatas this Tuesday (7th) to the market on the subject as an “attempt to intimidate”.
The businessman explains that the disagreement with the company would have occurred “due to inconsistencies in the reimbursement of indemnities; disagreements over the company’s net debt; third-party claims for which Alpargatas is responsible; and governmental acts that occurred in Argentina”.
According to Wizard, its representatives approached Alpargatas throughout 2022 for an adjustment in the acquisition price.
According to the statement, Alpargatas would not have shown interest in discussing values and, therefore, the businessman would have proposed arbitration at the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Brazil-Canada Chamber of Commerce (CAM-CCBC) on August 24, 2022.
“In addition to strangely not publicizing the arbitration proposed on August 24, 2022, Alpargatas communicated to the market a lawsuit that I am unaware of and that causes me great strangeness, since it is not a matter of the forum chosen by the parties to the contract”, highlights the businessman on note.
“I consider this act to be an attempt at intimidation due to my initiative to propose arbitration to resolve discussions around the adjustment of the price in relation to the aforementioned contract, and also a tactic to force the early receipt of amounts that would be paid by 2025 .
