The singer from Pará, Zaynara 23, won the award for New Artist during the WME Awards (Women’s Music Events Awards) , dedicated to women in music. In addition to going on stage to receive the honor, the artist performed during the ceremony, which took place this Tuesday (17), in São Paulo.
In addition to a medley with the hits “Who’s in charge of me”, “The Destroyer” and “I’m from the North”, the artist presented a snippet of a new song that she will release in 2025. The first single mentioned went viral a year ago on social media.
Before the WME Awards Brasil, on December 3rd, Zaynara was announced winner of the “Breakthrough” category, from “Multishow Award”, by popular vote. This year, she also participated in Rock in Rio 2024 and the São João da Thay Festival, in Maranhão.
All other seven editions of the award, dedicated to women in music , were presented by the singer Preta Gil who will not be able to participate in the event this year, as she is focused on her cancer treatment.
This year, the award honored Lia of Itamaracá which, at 80 years old, is considered a living heritage of Pernambuco, and also Nara Leão (1942-1989), the eternal Muse of Bossa Nova.
