The Paraná Civil Police (PCPR) rescued more than 300 dogs this Thursday (9) in São Lourenço, Curitiba, where the animals were kept in unhealthy conditions in a kennel.
The owner of the property was arrested by the police for mistreatment. She did not frequent the place, which accumulated feces and urine, and the animals did not have access to water and food.
Many dogs had lived in transport boxes for years and did not know how to walk, according to the PCPR.
Police officers found that neighbors complained about the strong odor and nearby businesses even closed their doors after customer complaints about the smell coming from the residence.
In addition, PCPR found that the animals are at risk of death, due to the situation at the site.
The City of Curitiba, through the Animal Protection Network, provides support with cleaning the kennel and handling, cataloging and transporting the rescued animals.
The dogs will be under the responsibility of the Stay With Me Institutewho must assume the daily care routine of the animals until recovery, with the support of the Protection Network to guarantee food and continuity of castrations, until making them available for adoption.

PCPR delegate Guilherme Dias says that this, like other actions by the PCPR Environmental Protection Police Station, “is only possible thanks to the support of the population”.
The incident report can be done online. on the PCPR website and anonymous complaints can be made by Dial-Denunciation 181, or in person at the nearest police station.
