Woman arrested for trying to kill people she owed money to with poisoned chocolates

A woman was arrested in Rio de Janeiro on Friday (10) after trying to kill people to whom she owed money with poisoned chocolates. Four people ate the truffles, two of whom went into cardiac arrest and remained in a delicate state of health for two weeks. No one died.

The Civil Police say that the criminal is a federal employee and that she owns a restaurant. The victims were customers of the establishment from whom she had borrowed R$3,000.

The sweets were sent to forensics, who found the presence of an extremely toxic substance that usually makes up the ingredients of insecticides.

The woman, who had difficulty paying her debt, was reportedly charged several times before deciding to try to kill her creditors.

Her arrest was ordered last Tuesday (7), but, according to the police, she tried to escape, changing her address, six times.

She was located and arrested at work, in the center of the capital of Rio de Janeiro.

The police interviewed the person who sold the poison used in the candy, who said he did not know what the purchased substance would be used for.

The woman was charged with four attempted murders. The seller of the poison was indicted for supplying a toxic substance.
