A woman was arrested red-handed transporting two rifles, ammunition and magazines at the departure terminal of the Rio de Janeiro Bus Station, in the central region of the capital of Rio de Janeiro, last Monday (1).
According to the Military Police, agents from the Tourist Areas Policing Battalion (BPTur) found the suspect’s nervousness strange, as she tried to flee from a possible approach, and caught her hiding the items in her luggage.
“The agents asked the woman to accompany the garrison to the room where the luggage search procedure was carried out, in which two AR-model 9mm caliber rifles, two extended magazines, four short magazines and 43 9mm caliber rounds were found,” stated the battalion command.
The woman told the PM that the suitcase belonged to another person, who delivered it to the center of Rio de Janeiro, and that the weapons would be delivered to the municipality of Manhuaçu, in Minas Gerais.
The suspect was taken to the 4th Police Station in Praça da República, where the case was registered and will be investigated.
