A woman excitedly shared on TikTok her marriage proposal that she did to her partner and the reactions were definitely not what she expected. 27-year-old Sukhmin Garcha changed the tradition somewhat and got down on one knee in front of also 27-year-old Shiraz Brar to ask him to join their lives officially.
She was excited to share the video of the special moments, but she wasn’t prepared for the sexist delirium that would follow.
“I’ve always been open to it. I was nervous at first. I wanted to find the right moment, she said, adding that her partner “had the biggest smile on his face” when the proposal was made with her family and friends supporting her and that she was happy about her choice to be the one to ask. “will you marry me;”.
“I received a lot of negative comments,” she said in her statement. Many of them were “I’d rather die than propose”, “he has no self-esteem”, “he doesn’t seem happy”.
According to the 27-year-old, most of the negative comments were written by women, which surprised her.
