Woman falls from 42-meter-high cliff while walking with one-year-old son in the USA

A tourist from California fell 42 meters and died during a family hike at Bear Mountain in Sedona, Arizona (USA), local authorities said on Wednesday (17).

Zaynad Joseph, 40, was hiking with her one-year-old son and her husband when she fell off a cliff.

A group of hikers stopped after hearing screams. While some of them called emergency services, one of the group went down a ravine. He saw the woman, who was seriously injured but still breathing. She died shortly afterwards.

The child and her husband were taken from the mountain. The family was renting an Airbnb in Sedona, authorities said.

The Bear Mountain Trail is described as “mostly shadeless, steep and difficult in places,” according to the U.S. Forest Service. It rises 548 meters and is not suitable for horses, says the institution

The cause of the crash is under investigation. This is the third hiker death in Sedona this year, according to CNN affiliate KTVK.
