A woman was attacked by a man and her body was set on fire, this Monday (9), inside the Augusto Vasconcelos train station, in Rio de Janeiro.
SuperVia, the company that manages the station, reported that employees there called firefighters and other authorities shortly after the incident and are closely monitoring the situation.
The victim was taken by a team from the Rio de Janeiro Military Fire Department to the Rocha Faria Municipal Hospital. The suspect fled at the time of the crime.
In a statement, the management of Rocha Faria Municipal Hospital reported that the patient's health condition is extremely serious and that she underwent emergency surgery and is not in a position to be transferred to a specialized unit.
According to the Civil Police, the man was identified, but the suspect committed suicide after the crime.
The case was registered at the 35th Police Station (Campo Grande) and the investigation is ongoing to clarify the motivation for the crime
