Woman meets missing dog in Hurricane after five years in the USA

A woman rediscovered her dog that disappeared five years ago in the state of Louisiana, in the United States.

Kingston, a Yorkshire Terrier, disappeared in Lake Charles, Louisiana, after Hurricane Laura in 2020.

Debbie Lafleur, Kingston’s owner reported to WDAM, CNN Affiliate that “I thought I would never see him again.”

This week, he appeared 480 kilometers from home, on the back porch of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity House, at the University of Southern Mississippi.

Young people from the fraternity ended up welcoming the dog and nicknamed him “Benji”. The next day, after checking the animal’s chip, they discovered the actual name of Yorkshire and that he had disappeared five years ago.

Lafleur soon received an email notifying that the missing pet had been found. She reported that before she could call the fraternity, they called her. “My heart began to hit hard, and I said to my boss, ‘I found Kingston, I found Kingston,’ and we both started screaming and screaming.”

The pet owner and the son made a four -hour trip to Hattiesburg at Mississippi to bring Kingston back to Louisiana.

The moment of the reunion was exciting, with the dog running animated in the direction of Lafleur.

Lafleur reported that the only thing that could have improved this moment would be if her husband, Joe, had been there too.

“They were best friends,” Lafleur commented. “I mean, they were like two peas in the same pod.”

“The only bad part is that my husband is gone now, but he probably made it happen.”

The dog eventually became a honorary brother of the fraternity, a title given by the young people who said the Yorkshire accompanied them all week. “In our eyes, he is a Kappa Sig.” (Fraternity Name)
