A young woman named Rafa Piaz shared on Tik Tok an accident she suffered during her CrossFit training and caught attention on the web.
In the video, which already has almost 4 million views, the girl is seen trying to perform a ‘snatch’, a complex CrossFit movement, but is unsuccessful and ends up dropping a 65kg barbell on her head.
Rafa joked about the situation and said that ‘if she posted it, it’s because she’s alive’. “We don’t forget the first snatch accident,” she said.
@rafapiaz a few weeks ago LOL if I posted it it’s because I’m alive #snatch #error #fypdongggggggg #crossfit #crossfitter
In the comments, internet users were concerned about the situation, but she assured that she was fine and that it was just a mistake in the stability of her elbows.
Furthermore, Rafa also took the opportunity to respond to an internet user who said that she was looking for exposure with the episode, and that it could have cost her her life. “The price of knowing how to read is the worst. I do LPO [Levantamento de Peso Olímpico], and snatch is the best thing in the world. Mistakes happen in every modality,” he explained.
The crossfitter from Florianópolis also said that she read many comments saying that she was lifting more weight than she could handle and that was why the accident happened.
“I don’t do anything without technique. I’ve been doing LPO for two years and nothing like this has ever happened before. I weighed 65 kg and fit perfectly down there, I just had to climb up. But I didn’t lock my elbow and that’s why it came to my head. Everything was fine and I trained again the same day,” she said.
What is a snatch?
The snatch, also known as ‘Start’, is an Olympic weightlifting and Crossfit movement, which consists of lifting a barbell from the ground to above the head without pausing and without supporting it on the body.
@rafapiaz Replying to @Bruna 65kg fit nicely at the bottom the first time, the second time I didn’t lock my elbow and then I let the bar come up… but my mobility is good and I TRAIN for it, so it was easy to get out of there
