At the end of investigations carried out by the Civil Police of Minas Gerais (PCMG) into an audio with racist content that circulated on social media, involving residents of the city of Poço Fundo, south of the state, a 45-year-old woman was charged with racial insult.
The crime occurred on October 9, 2024.
In the audio, the woman attacks one of the residents with racist speech such as: “That black Toninho now posted a photo here on Facebook here with the city hall shirt.” In another excerpt she says: “Oh, ordinary black man, oh, disgusting black man”.
The victim went to the city police station to record what happened and presented the audio as evidence. PCMG began investigations to identify the suspect who confirmed the crime.
The police investigation was sent to the Public Ministry and the Judiciary, with an indictment for racial insult and possible prejudiced insult related to national origin.
The person under investigation may serve a sentence of 2 to 5 years in prison and a fine.
