The Rio Grande do Sul Civil Police investigates a case of femicide that occurred on Monday night (19) in Três Coroas (RS), about 100 kilometers from Porto Alegre. A 40 -year -old woman was stabbed to death and her 68 mother was injured after being attacked indoors on Rui Barbosa Street in the city center.
The main suspect is the victim’s former partner, a 42-year-old man, a resident of São Leopoldo, who fled the scene on a motorcycle and is on the run.
According to delegate Ivanir Caliari, responsible for the investigation, the crime occurred around 7:30 pm. The daughter died at the scene, while her mother was rescued alive and is still stable at Canoas Emergency Room Hospital.
The victim was supported by an urgent protective measure issued on May 16, three days after registering a police report by a threat committed by the same suspect.
The Civil Police had requested the measures from the judiciary shortly after the complaint and the judge granted the request on the same day. The aggressor, who had no criminal record, ignored the court order and attacked the victims early in the following week.
By 2024, the victim had already faced a troubled relationship and obtained another protective measure against a former partner, who is currently a penalty for murder in a Caxias do Sul prison.
The city of Três Coroas and others in the region do not have a police station specializing in care for women.
