A woman was rescued at the last minute after becoming trapped in a conveyor belt at a Shanghai supermarket, an official told Chinese state television. The woman fell into the faulty corridor last Thursday, which was missing a floor slab. After being trapped for an hour, the woman was rescued by firefighters. Her husband said she was hospitalized in intensive care and underwent two operations, required a skin graft, and was at risk of infection and amputation. Shanghai Municipal Administration for Market Supervision (SMAMS) deputy director Su Dongjun told CCTV network that all officials involved in the runway operation – including the maintenance and installation units – were under investigation.
