A place dedicated to women, where you can meet, talk about each other, treat yourself to the immense pleasure of reading, but also that of listening. Is called Women Food Libraryis in theVergnano Academy in Chieri (Turin), was just born and already aspires to become thereto the largest all-female food libraryand it is no coincidence that it is the result of the idea of two other (great) women: the CEO of Caffè Vergnano Carolina Vergnano and the director of Cook (Corriere della Sera) Angela Frenda.
The idea
A project that talks about culture, kindness, beauty, born during the lockdown: at that time Angela Frenda began a series of live shows on Instagram and gave life to her Cook Book Club and Carolina Vergnano, inspired by her stories, confided her dream to create in the historic family home which is now a training center for bartenders from all over the world, a bookshop dedicated to all-female food.
What is done in the Women Food Library
There Women Food Library it will be first of all this, but also many other things: an open place (just book), with titles chosen by Caffè Vergnano and by Angela Frenda’s readers on her Instagram profile @angelafrenda (which will also be included in a newsletter to which you can subscribe from the site www.angelafrenda.it active from 1st June). Classic but also innovative and experimental books to tell how the kitchen can be a great space of creativity and freedom, which will also be the protagonists of a series of appointments with the best food writers, with whom you can talk about recipes, stories, and you can dine like a real literary circle during very special Women Supper Club. The first will be theJune 8 together
to the bestselling author Simonetta Agnello Hornby who will present his latest book There
cuntintizza (Mondadori). Just book on Reservations can be made on the site www.eventbrite.it.
A project with a charitable purpose
Like all the appointments of Women in Library it will be for charitable purposes, to support women. The proceeds from the dinners will, in fact, be donated to the Caffè Vergnano social sustainability project Women in Coffee which since 2018 has supported women on plantations by selecting each year a new project to believe in and to grow.
“Caffè Vergnano, with Women in Coffee, has always been close to the world of women,” said Carolina Vergnano. «With this project, very special for me and Angela, vwe want to talk to the female universe, and not only and reiterate the importance of culture and education to foster empowerment and personal fulfillment. In addition to all this, there is our friendship and the love that unites us towards books and the world of cooking. It is our dream that comes true and we are proud to share it with you all ».
