«I will never retrace my steps. Oh compatriot, I am not what I was. I am a woman who has woken up. I have found my way and I will never go back ». Meena Keshwar Kamal was an Afghan activist committed to the defense of the woman rights. She was murdered by hit men in 1987, but her voice is still strong, so much so that one of her words accompanies a project in favor of the women of Afghanistan.
Women for women is an all-female solidarity network that has decided to take action with a social project to support the reception plan for refugees from Afghanistan, implemented by the Italian government and the third sector.
It is a group of people who want to make different skills available to collaborate actively with institutions, associations and organizations that are already dealing with the emergency in Afghanistan and with refugees in Italy.
The association collects offers of help from civil society to welcome women and families, through economic and moral support, and concrete support in addressing all those daily needs. They range from school to university through medical examinations, legal assistance and insertion into the world of work. Help is also a linguistic and cultural mediation, a way to enter the Italian world for those with very different traditions and habits.
Since August 15, more than 800 offers of help have arrived. Women for women it also undertakes to support campaigns of fundraising and raising awareness on the emergency situation in Afghanistan, on the condition of refugees. Events are organized, the proceeds of which are donated to organizations and associations that deal with the reception of refugees and support for those who are still in Afghanistan.
In the network of professionals of Women for women there are already entrepreneurs, journalists, lawyers, doctors, communication experts, architects and designers, professionals active in the world of associations, artists and photographers but also women who represent institutions in various capacities.
