Wordalle introduced: like Wordle, only you need to guess the drawings of the DALL-E neural network

A few years ago, there was an opinion on the network that neural networks are capable of performing only template tasks, while the “mind” is simply not enough for artificial intelligence for creative delights. Soon, engineers proved that this was not entirely true, because the DALL-E neural network is capable of generating images at the request of users with an incredible level of realism, and now enthusiasts have found a very unusual use for this skill. The developers have combined the rules of the popular puzzle game Wordle with the functions of the DALL-E neural network, resulting in a very attractive and funny browser game.

Members of the Huggingface Projects developer community took the standard Wordle rules as a basis – gamers need to guess the words conditionally “encoded” in the presented images by substituting letters into the corresponding fields on the screen. Only if the original game uses pictures from the network or specially selected photos, then in Wordalle the images are generated by a neural network based on the requests of the developers. And gamers need to guess from the final “drawings” what exactly was guessed by the authors of the project to the neural network. In total, players are given seven attempts to guess the process, but the developers noted that they tried not to go too far with complexity.

They made an effort to make the queries on the basis of which the artificial intelligence generated the pictures funny enough (although all the words are written in English – you won’t be able to play without basic knowledge), but at the same time they could be solved after a couple of unsuccessful attempts. For example, the result was pictures with Master Yoda doing yoga, a fat Pikachu, a pug taco, and Voldemort at a disco. An excellent example of how the capabilities of a neural network can be used to create browser-based video games.
