In 2023, negative emotions were predominant in the lives of 48% of Brazilians, according to the Quiddity survey, which interviewed 1,335 people over the age of 18 and was released this Tuesday (12). According to the survey, 47% of respondents responded that anxiety and worry were the most present feelings in the last year. For 37% of people interviewed, exhaustion was what predominated.
When asked which areas of life most impacted these feelings, people who stated that negative emotions prevailed in 2023 responded that finances (55%) and work (44%) were the main motivators.
Additionally, 43% of participants feel overwhelmed and 40% reported that climate change contributes to stress.
Research shows that negative emotions are even more evident among women and young people. Regarding anxiety, 55% of women declared that this emotion will be the predominant one in 2023, compared to 39% of men.
Among young people, the group aged between 18 and 24 recorded 58%, 11 percentage points above the national average.
Positive emotions
The survey shows that 52% of respondents responded that positive emotions prevailed in their lives in the last 12 months. Of the people interviewed, 39% cited gratitude and 38%, happiness.
The reasons for this predominance of good feelings are personal reasons (44%) and health reasons (36%).
Technology
Quiddity research shows that 19% of the population trusts information generated by Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and 11% of people say they trust digital influencers.
Furthermore, 50% of people check whether the information is true before sharing, with 40% of those interviewed having already received fake news and believing it was true and 23% know someone who shares fake news on purpose.
For 23% of respondents, technological changes generate anxiety and, for another 23%, there is concern about replacing functions with work generated by AI.
What to expect from 2024?
The study points out that 81% of Brazilians believe that 2024 will be a better year than 2023. Regarding intentions for this year, 55% of those interviewed prioritize physical health care, 52% well-being and 48% mental health.
Of the people who participated in the survey, 41% said they missed someone to talk to about feelings.
Furthermore, 35% of people interviewed want to use social media less and 32% want to stay at home less than in 2023.
