Workers can withdraw R$ 24.6 billion “forgotten” in PIS/Pasep quotas

About 10.6 million Brazilians can withdraw, on average, R$ 2,300 from “forgotten” PIS/Pasep quotas. The sum available amounts to R$ 24.6 billion, and can be accessed by at least 10.6 million Brazilians.

In a press conference on Thursday afternoon (25), the vice president of Caixa Econômica Federal’s Operator Agent, Edilson Carrogi, said that workers with a formal contract and civil servants who were employed between 1971 and 1988 can check if they have dammed up values. referring to PIS/Pasep that have not yet been withdrawn.

In the event of the death of the worker, Caixa informed that the beneficiary listed in the pension system to which the worker contributed can consult and withdraw amounts if available.

The process of consulting these credits can be done through the FGTS application or at a Caixa Econômica Federal branch. In addition to the consultation, the withdrawal request can also be made through these platforms.

The amounts were transferred to the FGTS when the PIS/Pasep Fund was extinguished, and Caixa started to manage these resources. Since the migration, until July 31 of this year, Caixa informed that it has already made more than 340 thousand payments, totaling R$ 493 million distributed.
