As he pointed out, 20 new Municipalities have already been created, 354 Communities have been merged into 30 complexes while the establishment of five Provincial Organizations is in progress with the ultimate goal of providing better services to the citizens at the lowest possible cost. He even identified the implementation of these reforms in the transitional period from today until June 2024, when the Local Government elections will be held under the new scheme. Mr. Voridis, for his part, listed the challenges that this cooperation is called to face, characterizing the ambition of the Republic of Cyprus, to unite under one legal entity not only the many different persons per Municipality but also the different activities that they exercise, as a demanding administrative task. He clarified that in this context, a transnational agreement will be required that will regulate the issues, not only of the mandate to Mr. Karagiannis but also of the wider cooperation between the two sides as well as the availability of additional officials of the Ministry of Interior who will support the effort. this with their own knowledge and experience. In addition, he said he was particularly happy and optimistic about this cooperation and expressed confidence that the Greek side would also reap a number of benefits, noting that these structural reforms are a cumulative knowledge and experience. Finally, he provided Mr. Nouris with the full support of the Hellenic Republic in the reform effort made by the Republic of Cyprus.
