Works find turquoise water in Parnamirim (RN) and mayor wants “tourist development”

During excavations for a work in the city of Parnamirim, in Rio Grande do Norte, there was an outcrop of water with a turquoise blue hue on Wednesday (25). The mayor of the city said that his team is evaluating the possibility of transforming the place into a “tourist enterprise”.

The phenomenon occurred during the excavation for a Sewage Pumping Station, work of the city hall, carried out by the company AGaspar with the technical support of the Companhia de Águas e Esgotos do RN (Caern). The works were paralyzed until it is defined which measures will be adopted.

Caern collected water samples for analysis and noted that it has good quality. The clear liquid appears to be turquoise in color due to the reflection of light and the color of the ground.

The prefecture reported that the water level rises about 2 centimeters per day. The perimeter of the site is isolated and the entrance of the population is not allowed, nor any use or consumption of water.

“The City Hall is studying the possibility of transforming the space into a tourist route”, says the statement.

During the first session of the City Council this year, on Thursday (2), the mayor of the city, Rosano Taveira, said that his team is dealing with the situation and takes into account “the real possibility of the place becoming a tourist enterprise of the city”.
