World Aperitif Day: the festival that celebrates the Aperitif arrives in Milan

If we say “aperitif” in all the languages of the world, there is only one explanation: the aperitif – like pizza or pasta – is a sincere and traditional expression ofItalian Way of Life, the Italian way of life, that “Bella Vita” for which we are so famous abroad, if only in the films that celebrate our country. Here, the aperitif perfectly expresses that slightly relaxed mood of someone sipping something while contemplating the view at sunset, with a glass in one hand and a very Italian bruschetta in the other.

The aperitif, therefore, becomes a spokesperson for Italianness, not only in drinking and eating, but precisely in the way of understanding the day, still allowing oneself a break in the evening to get away from everything, but not for everyone, given that the number one prerogative of the aperitif is that it must be enjoyed in company. To confirm the Made in Italy of the aperitif, if that wasn't enough, there are the most drunk drinks on this occasion (not in Italy, but almost everywhere): on one side the Spritz, on the other (for those who drink more strongly) the Negroni.

The festival

To celebrate the World Aperitif Daywhich on May 26th celebrates the authenticity of the Italian Aperitif in Italy and around the world, Milan offers, from May 24th to 26th, theFestival aperitifan event that studies the aperitif ritual and tells it through tastings, tasting tables, events, workshops, masterclasses, and even shows and DJ sets (after all, what's an aperitif without a bit of music?). And, if it is true that the aperitif is an entirely Italian tradition, it is also true that it has spread throughout the world like few others, and so, at the Aperitivo Festival, fifteen different international mixologists (coming from the UK, Spain, USA , Japan, Hong Kong, Austria, Sweden, Finland) will tell their point of view on the aperitif ritual. We then return home, with the aperitif of «La Sciura milanese» and with the «pleasure of a Sicilian aperitif»told by Adriano Egitto, chef of Muddica.

To the Nhow Milan Hotel Of Via Tortona you will meet over a thousand locals, with their mixologists and their products, to offer the public the best combinations of food and wine, respecting the tradition of the Italian aperitif: you drink a sip, you eat a bite. Ancestor of finger food, precursor of amuse bouche that we enjoy so much in the tasting itineraries of starred restaurants, the aperitif is a one-of-a-kind experience, designed for sharing and enjoyment.
