World exceeds six million deaths from Covid-19

The number of people who have died from Covid-19 worldwide passed the six million mark as of Monday morning, according to data from Johns Hopkins University (JHU).

The global death count has reached 6,000,097. According to the data, 256,704 people died from Covid-19 worldwide in the last 28 days.

The world has recorded more than 446 million cases of the coronavirus since it was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan in late 2019.

Covid-19 in Brazil

Brazil recorded, this Sunday (6), 15,961 cases and 216 deaths from Covid-19 in 24 hours. The data are from the National Council of Health Secretaries (Conass).

The moving average of new cases reached 40,130 on Sunday – the lowest since January 10, when the number was 36,231. The moving average of deaths is at 430.

The moving averages consider the average of the numbers recorded in the last seven days and serve to monitor the indicators of the pandemic without any distortions caused by possible underreporting on weekends.

In all, the country accounts for 652,143 deaths and 29,049,013 cases related to the coronavirus.

The Ministry of Health told the press that it assesses the possible reclassification of the Covid-19 pandemic in the country as an endemic situation. According to the ministry, the assessment is carried out jointly with other ministries and bodies, taking into account the epidemiological scenario and the behavior of the virus in the country.
