World Health Day, celebrated on Monday (7), is an important date to raise awareness and encourage the whole world to provoke more health and well-being to the planet’s population.
The date was instituted by the World Health Organization (WHO) in 1948, has been celebrated since 1950 and usually brings each year a theme as focus. This year, for example, the global campaign is focused on the health of pregnant women and babies to reduce neonatal mortality.
Having a healthier life can sometimes seem like a challenge to people who see a very large universe of rules and restrictions and may not know where to start traveling their journey in search of health. Thinking about it, the CNN Heard Thiago Piccirillo, general practitioner of the São Camilo de São Paulo hospital network, which brought a list of eight simple tips for those who want to have a healthy life.

1 – Do physical activity
“If it moves every day. Maintaining regular physical activity reduces heart disease, diabetes, improves mental health. According to WHO, it is recommended to do 150 minutes of physical activity per week,” said Piccirillo.
2 – Sleep well
“If you are sleeping less than 6 hours a night, you increase the risk of hypertension, obesity and depression. Ideally, you have a sleep quality, a suitable sleep period, 7 to 8 hours of sleep per night.”
3 – Assess blood pressure
“We have to measure at least once a year blood pressure. Hypertension is silent and is one of the main risk factors for cardiovascular health.”
4 – Drink more water
“You have to drink a lot more water than we drink usually. Dehydration affects renal function, humor and concentration. The ideal is that we take 2 to 2.5 liters a day. And that varies from person to person.”
5 – Caring for mental health
“You should take care of mental health as you will take care of your body effectively. Controlling anxiety and depression – diseases that are bad and treatable. In any sign of something, it is worth looking for a specialist in psychiatry.”
6 – Do not smoke
“There is no safe dose of cigarettes. Cigarettes, hookahs, electronic cigarettes increase risk of infarction, stroke, lung diseases, lung cancer. Stop smoking is a very important tip.”
7 – Having a proper diet
“The tip is to prioritize natural foods. No fried foods, fats, embedded foods. This helps in weight control, blood glucose control and cholesterol control.”
8-Preventive check-up
“Check-up is the best medicine. Some health problems can be diagnosed before the situation is serious. It’s important to pass with a clinician, with a cardiologist, with a doctor you know to do this battery of exams and see how your health is.”
