World Hunger: Little Fall in 2024, but Africa is “narrow” and Gaza starves

Hunger worldwide declined in a slight decline in 2024, affecting between 638 and 720 million people, thanks to the progress recorded in Latin America and Southeast Asia, but continues to grow in Africa, UN services said today. About 8.2% of the world’s population was faced with hunger in 2024, down 0.3% compared to 2023, but “significant inequalities” remain around the world, according to a joint report compiled by the Food and Agriculture Organization, the International Rural Development Fund.
