World jiu-jitsu champion brain dead after being shot in the head in SP

Eight-time jiu-jitsu world champion Leandro Lo had the brain death announced this Sunday (7th), after being shot in the head during a concert in the city of Sao Paulo .

As reported by the police to CNN , Lo was at a show at Clube Sírio when he was teased in the middle of an argument. At first, the fighter took down the provocateur, who then left the place and returned shooting.

In addition to firing the shots, the shooter also kicked the fighter twice after he was already unconscious on the ground, and then left the scene.

He has already been identified by the authorities and is a military police officer. To date, no arrest warrant has been issued.

Lo took a shot in the head, and the bullet remains lodged there. The athlete was taken to Saboya Municipal Hospital.

As the brain death condition is irreversible, the case was registered as a completed homicide in the 17th Police District, in the Ipiranga neighborhood.

Questioned by CNN Esporte Clube Sírio said that it does not have any information about the case so far, and that it prefers not to comment.

Leandro Lo was 33 years old and, in addition to eight world championships, he was champion in the South American tournaments, the World Cup and the Pan American, Brazilian and European championships.
