World leaders congratulate Macron on victory in France

After the release of the projection that points to the victory of President Emmanuel Macron in the French election, world leaders published messages on social networks congratulating the current Chief Executive on the result. Macron’s opponent, Marine Le Pen, has already conceded defeat.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen congratulated the current president on his re-election and said she was “looking forward” to continuing “excellent cooperation” with France. “Together, we will advance France and Europe,” she said.

The Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Boris Johnson, sent congratulations to Macron around 4 pm this Saturday (24), in Brasília time. “France is one of our closest and most important allies. I look forward to continuing to work together on the issues that matter most to our two countries and the world,” he declared.

In the message in which he celebrated Macron’s re-election, the president of the Spanish government, Pedro Sánchez, stated that “the citizens elected a France committed to a free, strong and fair European Union”. He also said that, with the result, “democracy wins and Europe wins”.

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz also congratulated Macron on Twitter. He highlighted the fact that Macron is pro-European Union. “His voters also sent a strong commitment to Europe today. I am pleased that we continue our good cooperation!” he wrote.
