World of Tanks released on Steam, but fans are unhappy: everything will have to start from the beginning

Today, April 29, Wargaming officially delighted its fans with an event that gamers have been asking for for many years – the popular tank simulator World of Tanks has been added to the Steam catalog. Now gamers do not need to download a separate client from the official Wargaming website, register there and download content through this application. In addition, there are many obvious advantages – on Steam it is much easier to share content, play as a team, communicate and receive updates that swing in the background. But, unfortunately, gamers give the release on Steam a huge number of negative ratings – all due to the fact that progress cannot be synchronized.

That is, if a gamer has played through a client downloaded from the Wargaming website for ten years, now that the game has appeared on the Valve platform, he does not have the opportunity to transfer all his achievements, tanks, pumping and currency to Steam. Gamers who want to play through a new platform for the project can start from scratch – with an empty account. Naturally, this news disappointed loyal fans, since after many years of stubborn battles, no one wants to give up the received awards in order to move to a more comfortable platform.

Especially this moment raised questions against the background of the fact that when World of Tanks is launched through Steam, the game is still launched through the Wargaming client. Moreover, the developers have confirmed that the project has a conditional cross-platform – gamers playing through Wargaming and Steam clients will fight together. This only made the situation worse. The developers themselves said that creating a new account on Steam is a compulsory measure, since initially World of Tanks was not created to run on multiple platforms and synchronize content.
