The startup GigaDrive has unveiled the fastest external solid-state drive, which at the same time received a secure design, at the Indeigogo collective funding platform.
At the stage of collective funding, users were able to order drives with a 50 percent discount: the volume version is offered for $ 149, the 2 and 4 TB versions cost $ 209 and 349, respectively. The device aroused keen interest, the required amount was collected in just 90 minutes.

Gigadrive is compatible with PCs and laptops running Mac, Windows or Linux, as well as any device equipped with USB-A or USB-C connectors. The Gigadrive offers read and write speeds of up to 2800 MB / s, up to 18 times faster than a conventional hard drive.
Constructed from aluminum alloy, the GigaDrive is waterproof and shockproof. It is equipped with built-in temperature control and overheating protection technology. Dimensions are 114 x 37 x 12.5 mm and weighs 74 g.

The GigaDrive is expected to ship to its first customers this July.
