World’s first robot ‘university’ – 1,000 humanoids to be trained by 2027

China has opened the first training base for humanoid robots to act as a “university” for the humanoids to be properly upgraded. The base is located in Shanghai and is called the Humanoid Robot Kylin Training Ground, and is operated by the Humanoid Robotics Co-Built National and Regional Innovation Center. With the ability to train more than 100 humanoid robots simultaneously, the facility hopes to accelerate the widespread use and commercialization of robotics technology. The goal is to AI train 1,000 humanoids by 2027. According to the Global Times (GT), to better train the robots, the base will work with Shanghai-based manufacturers including Zhiyuan Robotics and Kupas Technology Co. By the end of 2025, the initiative aims to collect 10 million records of high-quality physical data, creating one of the most advanced sets in the industry.
