Writer Roseana Murray, 73, who had her arm amputated in April last year after an attack by pitbull dogs, received a bionic limb prosthesis.
She shared the news through a post on a social network last Friday (24).
“Today I received the prosthesis that I called blue, the name of a horse we had. Adaptation is or appears to be very difficult. Another great learning experience!” wrote Roseana in a post on social media.

The Rio de Janeiro Court ordered the city of Saquarema and the state government to provide a bionic prosthesis for Roseana.
The bionic prosthesis, valued at R$894,000, is considered essential for her to recover part of her autonomy and quality of life.
“The right to health, fundamental to the right to life, is a basic condition for promoting the dignity of the person, and it is the duty of the State to adopt effective measures that guarantee its exercise”, stated judge Andrew Francis dos Santos Maciel, from the 2nd Court of the District of Saquarema.
Remember the case
The writer and poet was violently attacked by pitbulls on April 5, 2024, in Saquarema, in the Lagos Region, in Rio de Janeiro.
The writer received the first care at the scene of the incident. Afterwards, due to the severity of the bruises, she had to be taken by helicopter to Alberto Torres State Hospital, in serious condition.
Roseana was released from Alberto Torres state hospital on April 18, 13 days after being admitted. Due to the several bites she received, the writer had her right arm and an ear amputated.
In August, four months after being attacked, the writer turned her own pain into poetry and released the book “O Braço Mágico”, in which she reflects her experience.
The pitbulls’ owners, Kayky da Conceição Dantas Pinheiro, Ana Beatriz da Conceição Dantas Pinheiro and Davidson Ribeiro dos Santos, were arrested on the day of the animals’ attack and had their arrest converted into preventative arrest.
