Writer attacked by pitbulls thanks health professionals on social media: “I’m fine”

Writer Roseana Murray, 73, made her first post on social media after being attacked by pitbulls in Rio de Janeiro, just over a week ago. On Friday (12), she thanked the professionals at Alberto Torres State Hospital (Heat) and said she was fine.

“I am immensely grateful to the Alberto Torres Hospital Dressing Committee. They do golden spider work on my skin. I’m fine”, wrote Roseana, who also shared a photo of the professionals.

Roseana was seriously injured by the dogs while walking in front of her house in the city of Saquarema. She was dragged about five meters and suffered lacerations to her right arm, in addition to losing an ear.

Kayky da Conceição Dantas, Ana Beatriz da Conceição Dantas and Davidson Ribeiro dos Santos, owners of the animals, were arrested red-handed after the attack.

However, on Wednesday (10), the Court granted habeas corpus to release the trio. Judge Gilmar Augusto Teixeira's decision was based on the fact that the pitbulls had already been seized and collected by the Saquarema Animal Protection Secretariat.

Yesterday, the hospital where the writer remains hospitalized launched a campaign for blood donations to help with Roseana's treatment. According to the hospital, the patient is lucid, talking and eating normally. Her condition is stable, with good evolution, although there is no forecast for an increase.

Those interested can go to several collection points in the metropolitan region of Rio de Janeiro, including the Serum at Avenida Marechal Floriano, 99, in the center of the capital of Rio de Janeiro ; at the parking lot Casa Shopping, in Barra da Tijuca ; at the Hospital da Posse, in Nova Iguaçu ; and in Santa Teresa Blood Bank, in Petrópolis .
