Writer cancels tour in Europe for fear of Trump’s migratory measures

Writer Ali Hazelwood, known for her romance books that viralized in the Tiktok app, announced in an Instagram post on Wednesday (2), who decided to cancel the events that would take place in April in the United Kingdom due to US immigration issues.

Hazelwood would attend the “Lab Coats and Love Notes” event on April 15 and 15, along with Colombian American writer Alex Aster.

In the Instagram post, the writer apologizes to British fans and reveals that she believes she would not travel safely for the event. “This is due to several complicated reasons that are mainly boiled down to the fact that, being things as they are, it is not possible to travel safely out and then return to the US.”

Author of the bestsellers “The Hypothesis of Love”, “The Reason of Love” and “Love, theoretically”, Ali Hazelwood was born in Italy, lived in Japan and Germany and moved to the United States to perform a doctorate in neuroscience.

It is not known for sure whether it has a permanent immigration visa in the United States.

According to the author, the tickets will be reimbursed by the event producer and she is organizing a virtual meeting for British fans.

Immigration policies have been increasingly restricted since Donald Trump assumed the position of US president in January.

Last week, American immigration authorities detained and revoked a visa of a Turkish doctoral student at the University of Tuft near Boston. She had expressed support to the Palestinians in the Israeli War in Gaza.

On March 22, the Trump administration revoked the temporary legal status of 530,000 immigrants in the US, according to a Federal Register notice. This was the latest exaggeration of repression of immigration.
