After 39 days of suspension, the X received the order to unlock on the afternoon of this Friday (8). A few hours after the decision, users celebrated the return to the social network with some memes.
Among publications that demonstrated relief at having the platform back, some users highlighted a certain concern about mental health and were also concerned about other social networks, such as Threads and Bluesky who served as X’s replacement during the lockdown.
In a tweet, the social network team assured that they were “proud to be back in Brazil”. “Providing tens of millions of Brazilians with access to our indispensable platform was a priority throughout this process. We will continue to defend freedom of expression, within the limits of the law, everywhere we operate.”
The return comes after Federal Supreme Court (STF) minister Alexandre de Moraes ordered Anatel to unblock the social network within 24 hours.
“I authorize the immediate return of the activities of X Brasil Internet in national territory and I order Anatel to adopt the necessary measures to implement the measure, informing this supreme court within 24 hours”, wrote the minister in the decision.
