Xi – Putin meeting: China supports Russia’s interests

The president of China Xi Jinping and the Russian president Vladimir Putin “exchanged views” on the conflict in Israel and Gaza during talks in Beijing today, with Xi stressing that China supports Russia’s “security and development interests”.according to Chinese state media.

The two leaders discussed progress in development of a natural gas pipeline between China, Mongolia and Russiaas well as supporting the cooperation of Chinese and Russian companies in strategic emerging industries, according to Chinese state media reports.

Xi told Putin that China is willing to continue to strengthen communication and cooperation with Russia in multilateral frameworks, state media reported, during talks on the sidelines of the forum. “One Belt One Road”.

Moreover, China “strongly” condemned the bombing of a hospital in Gaza which caused the death of hundreds of people yesterday, Tuesday night, and for which Israelis and Palestinians blame each other. “China is shocked by the heavy casualties caused by the attack on a hospital in Gaza, and I strongly condemn it,” the Chinese Foreign Ministry said in a statement, calling on “immediate ceasefire”.
