On September 1, Lu Weibing, President of Xiaomi Group China and General Manager of Redmi Brand, conducted a survey on Weibo asking users to choose between Snapdragon 778 and MediaTek Dimensity 1200 / Dimensity 1100.
The voting results show that MediaTek Dimensity 1200 and Dimensity 1100 are more popular among fans of Xiaomi and Redmi smartphones today. More than 7,100 people voted for these platforms, while the Snapdragon 778 got less than 4,900 votes.
It is worth noting that the MediaTek Dimensity 1200 platform, which outperforms the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G, is used in the Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition smartphone. There are currently no Xiaomi smartphones on the market equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G. Perhaps the company conducted this survey to decide on the release of such a smartphone.

The Dimensity 1200 configuration includes eight cores (1 + 3 + 4), the main one being the Cortex-A78, which operates at 3.0 GHz. Additionally, three more Cortex-A78 cores with a frequency of 2.6 Hz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A55 cores operating at a frequency of 2.0 Hz are installed. For comparison, the Dimensity 1000+ used an old Cortex-A77 core with a maximum frequency of 2.6 GHz. In single threaded mode, the new platform should be about 20% faster.
Dimensity 1200 received a 9-core graphics accelerator Mali-G77. The Dimensity 1200 supports 168Hz screens, and the 5-core image processor supports cameras up to 200MP. In addition, with the updated artificial intelligence system, the processing of night shots is 20% faster.
