Xiaomi apologized for the instability of the MIUI 12 and MIUI 12.5 firmware

After the announcement of the new flagships Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra, many users began to ask Xiaomi representatives why the new items did not receive the MIUI 12.5 firmware. Moreover, Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra do not even appear in the devices of the first wave to receive stable MIUI 12.5 – it will be released for them only at the end of May. Now the company has commented on the situation. To some extent even unexpected.

Xiaomi apologized for the instability of the MIUI 12 and MIUI 12.5 firmware

Development representative Jin Fan began explaining the situation with … an apology. He said he regretted that MIUI’s stability left a lot to be desired in the past year. And indeed, if you remember, several times different versions of MIUI 12 and MIUI 12.5 firmware for different smartphones were canceled or postponed last year. But why did it happen?

It’s all about too much of a burden that the company has taken on. And this burden is called MIUI 12.5. In fact, since last year, Xiaomi has been simultaneously developing not one, but two versions of MIUI at once: MIUI 12.5 itself, as well as MIUI 13. And at the same time, we must not forget about the support of models on previous firmware versions, the release of various security updates and other routine tasks. The company notes that such a load on the software development department is the most serious since the work on MIUI 5. Therefore, there were problems with MIUI firmware for different models.

Why then didn’t Mi 11 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra get MIUI 12.5? It’s all about stability: as long as the software developers do not guarantee the stable operation of the software on a particular smartphone, this smartphone will not receive the latest firmware version. That is why the company has taken a few more weeks to finalize MIUI 12.5 for the new flagships.
