Xiaomi became the leader in the number of smartphones sold in Russia for the first time

From June 7 to June 13, the Chinese company Xiaomi, together with the POCO sub-brand, for the first time bypassed Samsung in terms of the number of smartphones sold in the Russian market, gaining a 33.2% share. This was reported by the Kommersant edition with reference to the sales data of several large retailers. Currently, Samsung has 31.5% of the market, Apple has 13.5%, HONOR has 3.3%, and Huawei has 1%.

Nevertheless, if we take into account the data for the second quarter of this year, then Samsung takes the first place. The Chinese giant’s smartphone sales skyrocketed in June, and the company boosted sales through aggressive pricing and a successful product line. So, for example, according to “MegaFon”, in June, Xiaomi smartphones accounted for 47% of sales, and Samsung – 30%. Citylink believes that the Chinese company has strengthened its position due to the large volume of supplies. Moreover, last year there was a shortage of Xiaomi smartphones in Russia, and this year the company was able to redistribute world supplies in favor of the Russian market.

Some experts point out that Xiaomi’s success is also associated with a decrease in the shares of Huawei and HONOR, which are preparing to increase their sales. In particular, the HONOR brand intends to release new smartphones with Google services in Russia.
